Drop Trou for the Wildest Subway Ride in NYC
2017 No Pants Subway Ride
January 8th, 3pm
Be sure to wear your best underwear on Sunday, January 8th, as the world-famous "No Pants Subway Ride" returns to the tracks beneath New York City for its 16th year. What began as a secret prank between seven members of Improv Everywhere has become an international sensation, inspiring events in 60+ cities and over 25 countries. More than 4,000 brave NYC subway riders are expected to drop trou in the name of hilarity this year, and you can be one of them. All you need to do is check the website for updates regarding meeting places and route information a few days before the ride, and/or RSVP on Facebook.
Why No Pants?
Because it's hilarious. The sight of thousands of half-naked people who don't know each other boarding the subway at different stops as if nothing is out of the ordinary is laugh-out-loud funny - especially since everything but their legs is bundled up for the cold. Hats, mittens, coats, scarves, but no pants. If you do choose to participate, please remember to keep your undies relatively modest. The goal of the event is to make people laugh and wonder what's going on, not make them feel uncomfortable.
Don't Miss the After Party!
Once all pranksters converge at Union Square, you're invited to join your partners in crime for the 6th Annual "No Pants Subway Ride" After Party at Bar 13 (35 E. 13th Street), complete with a pants-free dress code, Pants Check at the door, a balloon pit for jumping, live DJ, dancing, and art installations.
