Heat Up the Dance Floor During the #1 NYC Jazz Festival
Since its inception in 2005, Winter Jazzfest has become the genre's gold standard music festival in New York City. Upwards of 10,000 avid jazz fans, fellow musicians, and curious travelers unite for five nights of truly authentic NYC concert experiences, January 5-10th.
"The Jazz Capital of the World"
According to Vanity Fair, Winter Jazzfest is proof positive that NYC still holds this esteemed title. Featuring 600+ performers rocking 14 stages over five swinging nights, it's easy to understand why the New York Times, New Yorker, JazzTimes, and NPR consider it the best festival of its kind in all of America.
Kick-Off Marathon Night #1 at Bowery Ballroom
The lively jiving heart of the festival is its world-famous weekend marathon across 10+ legendary Downtown venues, including our neighbor, Bowery Ballroom (6 Delancey St). Doors open at 6pm on Friday, January 6th, for a night of grooves from timeless piano-playing songstress Kandace Springs, the jazzy, funky R&B / hip-hop mashup of Killiam Shakespeare, and a handful of others. Of course, the beauty of Marathon Weekend is the fact your ticket gives you access to any and all of the 130+ groups performing all night long (1-Night: $45-$55; Weekend: $80-$90).
The Inauguration of Winter Jazzfest Talks
2017 marks the first installment of Winter Jazzfest Talks, an enlightening series of conversations about this year's festival themes like "Social Justice & The Role of Music" (January 7th, 1-2:30pm) and "Thelonious Monk Makes a Hundred" (January 8th, 3-4:30pm).
