"Exer-Sightseeing" in United Airlines NYC Half Marathon
March 20th, 7-10am
East Drive & 72nd Street
What better way to see some of Gotham's most iconic sights than running in a New York Road Runners (NYRR) Five-Borough Series half marathon? The new trend of "exer-sightseeing" marries traditional running events with scenic routes through magnetic destinations, such as Lower Manhattan in the United Airlines NYC Half on March 20th. Starting in Central Park, the gorgeous course runs the world-famous greenbelt's length nearly twice over, proceeds through a car-free (!!!) Times Square, along 42nd Street to the Hudson River waterfront, down the shore to Battery Park, where the Statue of Liberty cheers runners on to the finish line on Wall Street.
Thirteen Miles of Entertainment
Throughout the course, live music and DJs will keep things moving with motivational beats at over a dozen stages along the way. Spectators are welcome to join the fun as well, with viewing stands set up at the finish line, in the West Village, and Times Square. Kept to a time limit of three hours, the race is open to anyone who can maintain a pace of roughly 13:45/mile. If you get tired along the way, no worries. A sweep bus will pick you up for a ride to the post-race party, just 10 minutes from our SoHo luxury hotel.
