Artful Shopping at New York City Holiday Markets
Looking for unique, local, handmade gifts for loved ones on your list? Well, you're in luck, as Manhattan fills with European-style bazaars to satisfy seasonal shoppers every year. All of these holiday markets in NYC feature an eclectic array of local, only-in-New-York creations, trendy eateries, as well as arts and crafts from designers hailing across the globe. Each has its own appeal, so we recommend visiting all four of our favorites, 10-25 minutes from our hotel.
Bryant Park Winter Village
6th Avenue & 40th Street
Through Jan. 5th
Known mostly for its FREE, 17,000-sq-ft outdoor ice skating rink (open until March 5th), you'll also find 125 small shops in this relaxed park, one block from Times Square.
Grand Central Holiday Fair
42nd Street & Park Avenue
No visit to NYC is complete without seeing Grand Central Terminal - especially over the holidays. The tightly curated selection of 40 vendors at the seasonal market only serves to sweeten the iconic space.
Union Square Holiday Market
14th Street & Union Sq. West
Nov. 17th-Dec. 24th
The closest holiday market to our hotel in SoHo, this bustling open-air bazaar is home to 150+ purveyors. Come on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday, and take advantage of the world-famous Union Square Greenmarket, with what's sure to be some of the best hot apple cider you'll ever sip.
Columbus Circle Holiday Market
59th Street & 8th Avenue
Nov. 29th-Dec 24th
Much like at its sister market in Union Square, you'll find some goods and vendors here marked with an Artisan Pledge symbol, signifying things like "100% handmade," local in NYC, and made from recycled / reused material. Be sure to try the freshly baked German gingerbread from Leckerlee.
