Free Lessons During New York City Dance Week
As the oldest art known to man, dance holds a special place in the heart of every culture on the planet. From televised competitions to breakdancers on the subway, children's recitals to Broadway musicals, there's never been a better time to get your groove on - especially during New York City Dance Week 2016. The name can be bit misleading, though. It's actually 10 days of FREE dance classes at studios all across NYC (many just minutes from our hotel). Whether you're a beginner, pro, or anywhere in between, it's the perfect opportunity to learn the basics or enhance your craft from an eclectic selection of world-class instructors in one of the world's greatest cities for dance.
What You Might Learn
Every year, upwards of 40 studios offer 100+ classes marrying an array of styles ranging from tap, ballet, and swing, to Bollywood, ballroom, and hip-hop. Some even offer fitness (yoga / pilates) and wellness courses to unite dance with an overall positive lifestyle - because when you're expressing yourself with your body, it's hard not to treat it right.
How to Participate
All you need to do to take advantage of all the free fun is register here for a Dance Week Pass. Next, you'll want to check the Dance Week website for the upcoming schedule of classes and offers. Some may require reservations, so be sure to make them beforehand if necessary. Also, it doesn't hurt to call and confirm anything special you might need to bring or wear. All you have to do then is take a printed copy of your pass (or the Eventbrite app on your phone), get ready for a great time, and hashtag social posts with #NYCDanceWeek2016.
